Welcome!

I should probably write about something useful, but I don't believe my blog will survive of off relevance.

Fish ON!

We had a great time on the water today. A friend invited my son and I out for some offshore fishing. I'm becoming more comfortable with fishing offshore but certainly pay very close attention to the variables considering this; http://dherb.livejournal.com/#post-dherb-3125

Weather and winds looked good, very sea worthy boat and safety gear accounted for. We're ready!

It began with an early departure,

We made a quick stop for bait, which looked like this;

When the live well looked like this, we were Westbound!

Next are a few videos you have to see of my man Tio doing battle with some Grouper. (Gary had one in the background too).

In the video below you can't really hear him talking, but you can read Taylor's lips. He says "this rod sucks" followed up by a red grouper trying to rip it out of his hands, that was AWESOME! If you've been grouper digging before, you know they fight hard and dive into the rocks easily. I'm proud of how Taylor fought today, the haircut says it all!

Tally for the day, 6 big grunts and 1 mangrove snapper. We didn't get any grouper big enough to keep (probably caught 40) but that's Ok (grunts taste just as good shhhh). Even Leah loved it!

Spot: 55ft deep SW out of Eggmont (about 8-10 miles)
Bait: Combo of shrimp, squid, frozen sardines, live pinfish and some greenbacks.
Gear: 24 ft. Cobia and conventional PENN

Here are some photos of the ride home and dinner!  Tight lines folks, talk to you soon!
